Happy 22nd birthday, Youngjae! Congratulations on getting to sing your first drama soundtrack this year! I believe that there are many more to come in the future. I hope you continue to reach greater heights as GOT7′s main vocalist. I am looking forward to tomorrow, so that I can be in awe of how amazing your solo song is. #ARSYoungjaeDay

TODAY IN HISTORY: On December 2, 1899, General Gregorio del Pilar mounted his last stand at Pasong Tirad, with around 60 Filipino men facing around 300 Americans. The battle raged for more than five hours, and nearly all of the Filipino forces were killed, including del Pilar. The Battle of Tirad Pass helped delay the Americans in their pursuit of Emilio Aguinaldo. Gregorio del Pilar was only twenty-four when he died.

One account of the aftermath of the Boy General’s death comes from Richard Henry Little, war correspondent for the Chicago Tribune. In soaring prose, he tells of del Pilar’s final moments–and he recounts the looting of del Pilar’s fallen body:

Well, I couldn’t sleep, because if I did sleep before even writing my two cents about La La Land, I’ll probably won’t ever right it. So here it goes.

I’m not a good writer of movie reviews, or not a good writer at all. But La La Land, is the kind of movie that slowly crawls into your skin while you fully immerse yourself with the subtle and not so, cheesy scenes in the movie where Mia and Seb, meets at the party and convince themselves that they’re not attracted to each other, setting a “research” date at the theater or when they try to hold hands. I can’t see their faces, but those simple innocent acts of intimate feelings made the audience giggle a lot. I am instantly reminded by Wes Anderson films where the colors shine brightly and warmly. The whole feel of the film is just about everything nostalgic if you’re a lover of vintage films, vintage finds and the fashion (was it 30′s or 40′s?). I definitely appreciated how the cameras panned or followed the actors instead of cut this cut to that, that also showed the scene to be more emotional.

This film is just relatable, its realistic and its for all generation before and after us.

But for me, the essence of the whole film is not just about love. But “the” dream and the dreamers. All the obstacles in between it. How Seb struggles to keep Jazz alive, to get a steady job, set aside his dreams to have something going on in his life, and how Mia goes through the countless callbacks every audition but seldom gets the role, and when she eventually takes the bigger step, it doesn’t go her way. The film focused on their individual directions in life and how it affected them and their relationship.

The presence of love and relationship of Mia and Seb in the film, symbolize a sense of companionship where you can trust someone to lean on when no one understands or supports you, a partner that encourages you to never give up and to share what you were, what you are and what you want to be. And I think that’s a love you can never regret, a love that is worth remembering even though it hurts, a love that uplifted you to be a better person.

Seb & Mia should’ve had the perfect ending, but they didn’t, it was heartbreaking. Maybe they had a whole life full of what ifs and what could’ve. But their love, was worth the pain because it was the good pain, when you had to separate for the better and when you had to choose to let go in order to grow up, its not a bad thing at all.

Seb & Mia’s relationship might have been perfect, but it wasn’t something that would last forever because there are something that you just gotta give up.

It didn’t make sense. ‘cause no matter how many times people from my present tells me that I’m beautiful and enough, it couldn’t match up with the memories of the people who told me I was otherwise. Even if I made peace with them, my memories wouldn’t.
